Mirror's Edge Will Be Leaping Into The App Store In January 2010
December 2, 2009
EA's Mirror's Edge burst onto the console scene late last year, offering a first-person perspective and control system that had never really been utilized before; and whether or not you played and enjoyed the game, you have to respect the amount of creativity that went into it. We can only hope that EA plans to bring that same level of creativity to the iPhone version of Mirror's Edge, which is said to land in the App Store sometime in January 2010.
Mirror's Edge takes place in a city that is heavily monitored by a brutal regime, so a network of underground "Runners," including the main character Faith Connor, are required to deliver important messages on foot while avoiding surveillance cameras and armed authorities. The idea of the game is to run on walls, slide down ramps, ride ziplines, and leap from rooftop to rooftop in order to deliver your messages.
The original game used a first-person perspective, but the iPhone and iPod touch will be a 3D side-scrolling adventure that will take place across 14 levels. Hopefully EA will still be able to capture the feeling of the original game while moving away from its unique perspective.
EA hasn't given us any other information to work with, including a price or exact release date, but we do have some shiny new screenshots to show off below.
