Operation Chokehold: iPhone Users Urged To Take Down AT&T In A Digital Flash Mob

Like many AT&T users, Fake Steve is pissed. It may be because Time Magazine is hesitating to make him 'Person of the Year 2009' due to AT&T's poor coverage. Or maybe he just didn't appreciate AT&T's CEO calling iPhone users hogs. Nevertheless, he's pissed.

So, to get back at AT&T he just had the most interesting idea, codename: Operation Chokehold.

Operation Chokehold is a digital flashmob, somewhat of a massive DDOS. He wants every American iPhone user to launch their most data-intensive app this Friday at noon Pacific time. Eventually, with enough success, this will shut down the network.

Subject: Operation ChokeholdOn Friday, December 18, at noon Pacific time, we will attempt to overwhelm the AT&T data network and bring it to its knees. The goal is to have every iPhone user (or as many as we can) turn on a data intensive app and run that app for one solid hour. Send the message to AT&T that we are sick of their substandard network and sick of their abusive comments. The idea is we’ll create a digital flash mob. We’re calling it in Operation Chokehold. Join us and speak truth to power!

However, after an initial excitement period, my swissness kicked in, I guess. If the network actually goes down, would you want to feel responsible for the harm that this could cause? You could prevent somebody from contacting an emergency number and getting an ambulance.
