Take Back The Streets In Need For Speed Shift, Now Available In The App Store
December 18, 2009
EA's highly anticipated racing simulation game, Need for Speed Shift, is now available in the App Store.
EA molded Need for Speed Shift for the iPhone and iPod touch after its console counterpart in order to offer a more real-life racing experience as opposed to the more arcade-like Undercover.
The game ships with 20 licensed cars (entire list below) that can be fully customized to be more visually appealing or to offer you a performance boost. It also features 18 unique tracks in a variety of international locations. Need for Speed Shift offers a progressive profile tracking system that will reward you with stars for driving with precision or aggression, which will be reflected in your personal emblem. It also allows you to take on your friends locally via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Sadly, for some reason, EA once again decided to forego an online mode.
As with all racing games, Need for Speed Shift is all about the controls. The game offers three different control (difficulty) options in order to appeal to a wide variety of gamers. Rookie mode basically drives for you by controlling your gas, break, and directing you through the course. Professional mode gives you full control over breaking and steering. Veteran mode gives you full control over breaking, steering, and even allows you to control the transmission with a single swipe up or down. The one major downside to all three control methods, however, is that none of them allow you to control the gas, as the game automatically accelerates for you, even in veteran mode.
Need for Speed Shift is now available in the App Store for $9.99.
