TextNow - Unlimited Free Texting (SMS) - Service Interruptions
December 29, 2009
I've been hearing from quite a few of you about TextNow service issues. I contacted the developer today to get the scoop. A few moments ago Derek Ting of Enflick, Inc. responded saying:
We are aware of the issues and we are working really hard to resolve them ASAP. During the holidays our user base almost doubled and our servers are having trouble handling the load. We are currently upgrading our entire infrastructure to support the new users ( we hope to have this complete really soon ).And there you have it folks, you guys must be texting like crazy out there and lighting their servers up with your new iPhones and iPod Touches. For those of you who aren't aware, TextNow - Unlimited Free Texting (SMS) is a SMS messaging app for iPhone and iPod Touch users. It allows iPhone users to bypass their carrier and send Unlimited SMS messages directly through TextNow servers for the price of the app alone. TextNow - Unlimited Free Texting (SMS) also opens the door to text messaging for iPod Touch users via Wi-Fi. It's a great convenience and for some people it works well enough to drop their carriers plan so they can save a little cash. But, as you can tell the success of TextNow - Unlimited Free Texting (SMS) has also caused some high traffic server interruptions. Look on the bright side, they are upgrading the servers to handle the traffic. Are you having any issues sending and receiving with TextNow - Unlimited Free Texting (SMS)? If so tell us about it.
