Hangman RSS is an upcoming game from Finger Arts who developed Guess the News (review). Hangman RSS has a similar premise, but rather than guessing headlines with a wheel of fortune type of mechanic, instead it's classic hangman. In the game you guess letters in various real time headlines, and attempt to figure it out before you're hanged.
The game refreshes news headlines every time you enter the app, and even saves them for offline playing. Rather than guessing stale phrases like every other Hangman game, you guess news headlines that always change, and are always current. Don't just read the news, play it.
The hangman style differs from guess the news quite significantly as now you can guess letters, and find spots without actually knowing where the letters go. Of course you start off guessing e, t, r, s, a, etc. if you don't know what the word could be. As you advance there are multiple words, and each word has the whole alphabet to guess from, rather than it filling in all the ts in the entire headline.
There are four levels of difficulty which increase the headline lengths as well as the number of words you need to guess. Another difference from Guess the News is that there is OpenFeint which provides five high score tables plus over 40 achievements. In the game you get seven mistakes until you're hanged.
The game is all about how many articles you can guess in a row. Any article you play you can then read right inside the game. Score is based on time taken, and the difficulty you're on, which increases the multiplier. Also besides English, you can also play with real-time news in Deutsch, Dutch, Español, Français, Italiano, Svenska, and Português from their respective countries.
Hangman RSS will be released January 23rd, and we will have a review then to help you decide. The game will have an intro price of $0.99, and then will go up to the $1.99 regular price.
