Standalone OpenFeint App Hits The App Store For Free

OpenFeint, the app, gives you instant and free access to your OpenFeint account and the entire community. Upon first launching the app you will be asked to sync with your OpenFeint account, and if you don't have one already, you can sign up for one there. It's free, it's easy to use, and the catalogue of games that utilize the service has ballooned to well over 750, so you won't be the only one.
The OpenFeint app features three tabs located at the bottom of the screen. The first tab allows you to hit the forums and chat with other OpenFeint users, view news regarding OpenFeint games, and see which of your friends are currently playing an OpenFeint-enabled game. The second tab allows you to manage your OpenFeint account by adding/approving friends, editing your profile, viewing statistics, and viewing your open conversations. The third and final tab is intended to open your world to new OpenFeint-enabled games. At the top it displays the free game of the day, which makes this free app all the more worthy of a spot on your device, and it displays which games your friends have been playing in case you want to join them.
If you are an iPhone and iPod touch gamer of any kind, you should definitely have the OpenFeint app installed. It's basically a free Xbox Live-like service, just with more social features, exclusively made for the iPhone and iPod touch.
