App Genie is a brand new app, just released on February 1st. App Genie is an app collection app similar to App Box Pro, and the no longer in App Store App Vault Pro. App Vault Pro was removed by alleged copyright infringement as claimed by App Box Pro. Find out all the details here.
App Genie has stormed up the top paid charts currently sitting at number 10. The question is how long will it be in the App Store? Looking at this app it's very similar to App Box and App Vault, and I'm sure App Box is already making their case to get it removed.
App Genie has some new apps that aren't included in App Box, but App Vault had a few different apps too so that doesn't guarantee anything. App Genie even includes a simplified Red Laser type app. App Genies contains 26 apps: Product Search, Language Translator, Where Am I? (geolocation), Checklists, Currency Converter, Weather Forecast, Unit Converter, Country Facts, Battery Level, Device Stats, Voice Reader, Metal Detector, Talking Clock, Speedometer, Sound Meter, Tip Calculator, Amazing Facts, Digital Magnifier, Talking Compass, Tool Case (Bubble Level, Clinometer, Ruler, Plumb-bob), Cam Tools (Click Anywhere Cam, Shake Cam, Clap Cam).
App Genie looks even closer to App Box than App Vault did. In actually using the apps App Genie's apps are even more simplified than App Box which is too simplified in its own right. App Genie has more apps, but they all closely resemble App Box. Also none of them work that well, and after using all three app collection apps long enough to review them, App Vault is the superior one out of the three, but consumers don't have that choice.
How long will App Genie be in the App Store? How long can it exist in the App Store without Apple bringing App Vault back? Why is there a double standard, and truly why are any of these apps ever removed? Let us know what you think in the comments.
