Apple Cleans Up The App Store And Gets Tough On Sex
February 19, 2010
Apple's App Store moral guidelines seem to be getting a serious facelift this week.
After giving the green light to lottery Apps, Apple is now also changing its policy concerning overtly sexual content, TechCrunch is reporting. In an email sent to the developer of iBoobs, after pulling his app, the Apple review team explained that they feel this kind of content is no longer suitable for the App Store.
This decision is apparently due to a wave of protest from users who , very understandably, were bothered by the surge and omnipresence of these.
Here is the actual email:
The App Store continues to evolve, and as such, we are constantly refining our guidelines. Your application, Wobble iBoobs (Premium Uncensored), contains content that we had originally believed to be suitable for distribution. However, we have recently received numerous complaints from our customers about this type of content, and have changed our guidelines appropriately. We have decided to remove any overtly sexual content from the App Store, which includes your application. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. If you believe you can make the necessary changes so that Wobble iBoobs (Premium Uncensored) complies with our recent changes, we encourage you to do so and resubmit for review. Sincerely, iPhone App Review
In short: Lottery is now fine, Sex is no more.
Not much of a loss I guess, this was way too soft anyway.
