Doom II RPG Brings Turn-Based Gameplay Straight To Hell

February 9, 2010

id Software has brought yet another Doom title to the iPhone, only this time it is in turn-based RPG form. Doom II RPG pits you against the forces of hell as they once again attempt to conquer Earth.  As you may have already deduced from the "RPG" in the game's title, Doom II RPG isn't a run and gun first-person shooter, it's a turn-based game that will have you gathering information, solving puzzles, and of course, slaying Hell's minions.  It's actually a port of a mobile phone game by the same name, and was developed by the same team that brought you Wolfenstein RPG for the iPhone. The game features nine maps spanning across the Moon, Earth, and Hell itself, and is said to include over eight hours of total gameplay.  You will be able to choose from three different characters, each with their own unique attributes and dialogue experiences.  You will be battling 11 enemy types by using over a dozen different weapons, interacting with NPCs to obtain information, looting, upgrading your skills, and hacking all kinds of environmental items. As with almost all id Software iPhone games, the controls are fully customizable and the game feature three levels of difficulty in order to suit any player's needs.  Doom II RPG even includes a bonus digital comic, making this the complete package for any Doom fan. Doom II RPG is now available in the App Store for $3.99.
