iPhone OS 3.1.3 Is Already Jailbreakable On Some iDevices

February 3, 2010

Yesterday Apple released iPhone OS 3.1.3, and although it doesn't change much of anything for regular idevice owners, it means trouble for jailbreakers. Or does it?

Well, while we would still recommend you not to go anywhere near this update for now if you care about jailbreaking and unlocking, it is actually already possible to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.3, on certain older idevices.

According to the Dev-Team, the iPhone 2G, the iPhone 3G, as well as the iPod touch 1G, can already be jailbroken (not unlocked though). This actually also holds true for the older version of the iPod Touch 2G.

So how do you do it ? For the iPhone 2G, the  iPhone 3G, as well as the iPod touch 1G, you can use the Dev-Team's latest version of RedSn0w by pointing it at the 3.1.2 firmware. If you have an older iPod Touch 2G (if you're not sure, assume you don't), the Dev-Team just released a special version which you can find here (Mac or Windows).
