Rayman 2: The Great Escape Hitting The App Store March 1st
February 26, 2010
Instead of trying to reinvent the platforming genre, Gameloft has decided to bring a platformer back from the late 90's and slap new controls on it for the iPhone and iPod touch. The game in question? Rayman 2: The Great Escape.
Rayman 2: The Great Escape was originally released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64, Playstation, Dreamcast, and PC. It received extremely favorable reviews, and it raised the standard for 3D platformers thanks to its unique level design and gameplay. Gameloft is bringing this quirky platformer to the iPhone and iPod touch in its original form.
For those of you who are unaware, Rayman is a limbless hero. In the original game, Rayman was able to throw his fists at enemies, but in Rayman 2, he is able to throw orbs. Rayman 2: The Great Escape, like any good platformer, features the usual item collecting, riding/driving elements, secret worlds, and in Rayman's case, hair flying.
