Update: We have word from Cyan Worlds that
Riven is indeed making its way to the iPhone this summer, but
Myst Online: Uru Live won't be an iPhone title. As it turns out, the information got a bit mixed up, and Cyan Worlds is simply planning a re-launch of
Myst Online: Uru Live for the PC. Hey, at least we get one of the two, right?
The moment Cyan Worlds made
Myst available in the App Store, many people already began to wonder when they would release the rest of the
Myst series of games for the iPhone, including its sequel,
Riven, and the MMO style
Myst Online: Uru Live. If we are to believe a random contributor to the
Myst Online forums, these two games may be arriving sooner than expected.
According to a
Myst Online forum member,
Myst Online: Uru Live will be hitting the App Store in as little as a month, and
Myst's sequel,
Riven, should be arriving sometime in the Summer.
Below is the alleged email sent by a Cyan Worlds official in response to an email the forum member sent regarding the two games' iPhone port progress:
"I'm hoping that Riven will be available by early summer at the latest. Uru Live, maybe within a month. Watch the Myst online website for updates. The rest of the Myst series get complicated fast due to technology issues and rights licensing. Not sure those will make it," the alleged Cyan Worlds official responded.
If the email is believed to be legit, it holds good and bad news for
Myst fans as it looks like these could be the last two
Myst-related titles to make it to the iPhone and iPod touch.
