TomTom v1.3 To Include Live Traffic And Google POI Search (Updated)
February 12, 2010
Update: TomTom has clarified with us that the update will be submitted in about 2-3 weeks, not publicly available at that time. The update should actually be available sometime this Spring.
During Macworld 2010 we had a chance to sit down with TomTom's Vice President of Marketing Development, Tom Murray, who provided us with a couple of details regarding the company's upcoming update to their popular iPhone turn-by-turn navigation app.
The TomTom v1.3 update is set to hit the App Store in Spring and will include, among other things, live traffic and Google POI search. The live traffic feature will be available as an in-app purchase, although the price has yet to be determined. The live traffic feature will also be subscription-based, lasting for a total of 12 months. Google POI search will be available for free as part of the update. The update should contain a handful of other minor tweaks and fixes as well.
TomTom also has many other things planned for their iPhone navigation app this year. Although it may not seem like it at times, they have been listening to user feedback and have a laundry list of features they would like to implement based on that feedback. The company intends to tackle the most sought after features first, so keep watching the site for more details.
