Discovery News Goes Free

March 2, 2010

Since its launch in November 2009, the Discovery News iPhone and iPod touch app has provided its users with easy to access content fed from Discovery's not so mobile friendly website.  The app launched at the price of $.99 and had remained there for the last few months even while sporting ads, which obviously angered quite a few of its users.  To appease their fans and to actually give them a valid reason for having those in-app ads, Discovery has made Discovery News available for free. Discovery News allows you to sift through all of the content that is already available on DiscoveryNews.com in a more manageable mobile friendly way.  The app features separate sections for Top Stories, All Stories, and Videos along with the ability to search for something specific.  The More tab brings you to category specific articles, such as animals, humans, Earth, and history, for those looking to filter their information even further. Discovery News received a welcomed update in late January, addressing many performance issues and bugs that plagued the initial release. If you are looking to keep up-to-date on all things science and technology, Discovery News is a great and now free option.
