If you love playing casual puzzle games on your iPhone or iPod touch such as Bejewelled or Trism then Kerplinkus from BinarySquare is definitely worth taking a look at.
Kerplinkus is a great new puzzle game with an 80's retro arcade feel. The game seems a lot simpler to learn than others I have played because, on the surface it appears deceptively easy. You don't have to match 3 in a row and you can swap any two pieces on the board with absolutely no movement restrictions, plus there are no special-blocks or killer pieces to contend with. So whats the catch? Well, with 8 columns to watch out for and the ever increasing speed the game is a real challenge and painfully addictive.
I found the gameplay a cross between columns and space invaders and, as these are two of my all time favourites, I really enjoyed it. The 80's retro styling and the "old school" feel may not be to everybody's taste but if games like Pac Man, Space Invaders and Tetris still have a place in your heart then Kerplinkus could definitely find its way on to your homescreen.
