Air Hockey on the iPhone is cramped at best with practically no place to maneuver when the real arcade table has such expansive play areas. In comes the iPad, and the most popular air hockey game will be available at launch. Touch Hockey Extreme: FS5 builds upon the superb engine of the iPhone version, Touch Hockey: FS5, giving you not only the 2D top down look, but an all new 3D look.
Now you will have an air hockey table fitting the full 1024 x 768 screen of the iPad with the same puck and mallet aspect ratio that is seen on the iPhone giving you tons more room to play. On top of that there is a new 3D perspective giving you an even larger play area as the opponents side is recessed into the 3D background.
FS5 claims that they have the best multi-touch recognition of any air hockey app so you can play a friend on the same iPad, plus you can play over wifi for multiple devices. FS5 looks to have taken full advantage of the larger screen real estate presenting a whole new game that other air hockey developers will have a tough time competing with.
Touch Hockey Extreme: FS5 will be priced at $3.99 and available day 1 in the iPad App Store. Note that the price and screenshots are subject to change.
