Say Hello To No More SMS Charges With Hello! Messenger
Today's App Advice public service announcement: Don't let your iPhone toting friends pay for unlimited messaging. There are so many great apps that are on the App Store that can help circumnavigate the need to pay a costly texting fee every month. The aptly titled Hello! is the newest entry in the category.
Hello!, like Ping! and What'sApp, is a mobile to mobile messenger client that uses your data connection to transmit your text messages. By doing so, you can avoid the single use texting fees or save from using up all of your monthly allotment if you purchase a bundle from your carrier. What's also great is that Hello! is operating on Blackberry and soon with Android so if you have friends across different mobile platforms, you'll be able to exchange messages without worry.
Hello! operates on a unique PIN system similar to what Blackberry Messenger users have used to identify devices and accounts. By doing this, you can avoid having to give out your phone number to your contacts if you wish to keep that private. Users can also track down friends using their phone numbers or by simply searching the directory by name.
Conversations are set up using the simple dialogue boxes that are familiar to anyone that uses instant messaging. Aside from the text messages, Hello! also allows for photo exchanges and support for group messaging. And like just about any social app that is out there, you can post updates to your current status and share them on Facebook with the app's integrated Facebook Connect.
Hello! is a great addition to the messaging category of apps. If you don't mind having to get your friends to swap to a new platform, it's definitely worth a look. And with cross platform support, it may be a good cost cutting measure to save yourself and all of your friends from paying more than you have to on that monthly phone bill.
Hello! is available in an ad supported version for free or $1.99 without advertising. Get either one now on the App Store.
