The iPhone Bing App Gets An Update & Over A Million Downloads
March 20, 2010
While the rumors around Bing becoming the iPhone's default search engine have somehow lost their momentum, Microsoft has not given up on its iPhone app and just gave it its very first update.
Launched back in December, the native iPhone version of Microsoft's search engine has actually been quite a success. Downloaded over a million times, the iPhone Bing app has quickly become:
Microsoft's best mobile search by volume of queries, better than the traffic Verizon drives to Microsoft, and Bing is already the default the search engine across that network.
Quite a surprise actually. Anyway, thanks to this new update, you can now
- Bookmark searches and sites
- Share your results via email
- Set your location manually (instead of using the gps)
- Restrict search with "SafeSearch settings" and a passcode
- Private search options
- Run it on an iPod touch
