Use Your Social Networking Skills To Help Ward Off Zombies In Tweet Defense

March 9, 2010

Promethium Marketing, a company known for marketing games (among other things) and not actually making them, has just released their very first iPhone game titled Tweet Defense.  A game that rewards you for your social networking prowess. Tweet Defense is in essence your everyday tower defense game filled with a bunch of different enemies and tower types, but what makes it unique is its use of your Twitter stats.  The game connects with your Twitter account, grabs your non-personal information, such as number of friends, followers, and tweets, and uses it to enhance your towers' abilities. For example, your number of friends can increase your rate of fire, your number of followers can increase your range, and your number of tweets can increase your range by a certain amount of percentage points.  Obviously if you are a frequent and popular Twitter user, these percentages are relatively high.  The game also sports a "Booster Tower" that allows you to use Twitter celebrities to boost your stats. It's kind of a neat take on social networking, and puts Twitter connectivity to even better use than just posting scores. If you still don't really see the appeal of Twitter, that's fine too, because the game can easily be played without it, you just won't get any special tower enhancements. Tweet Defense features 10 levels, five different kinds of enemies, six tower types, and OpenFeint integration to provide achievements. Tweet Defense is now available for the introductory price of $.99.
