Bird Strike Gets The OpenFeint Gold Treatment
April 19, 2010
PikPok's Bird Strike has just become only the third game to ever achieve gold status from Aurora Feint, an achievement that brings upon a handful of additional features and puts it in the same "Gold Edition" category as Field Runners and Jet Car Stunts.
The OpenFeint Gold program is meant to help highlight the highest quality games in the App Store by providing extensive marketing through the OpenFeint community channels. Bird Strike most likely earned this extra special treatment due to its addictive gameplay and mass appeal, as the game was downloaded more than 1.3 million times while it was available for free.
"The original version of Bird Strike is an amazingly addictive game—it’s an office favorite and has been one of our most successful Free Game of the Day games ever featured with over 1.3 Million downloads since it went free last week,” said Eros Resmini, VP of Marketing and Developer Relations at Aurora Feint, Inc. “OpenFeint Gold was created to highlight the best iPhone and iPod Touch with innovative OpenFeint feature integration and Bird Strike Gold delivers on that promise."Bird Strike Gold Edition is available as a free update to the original. The update features five new levels and leadeboards, new power-ups, new achievements, and the ability to directly challenge friends. For those of you concerned, World Tour mode has been renamed to Puzzle mode, but all of your previous high scores are still there, you will just have to find them under the different difficulty levels. Bird Strike Gold Edition still features Endless mode along with all of the same Gerald the Bird launching gameplay you love, just with a few nice additions. If for some reason you didn't pick up Bird Strike for free last week, you can pick it up today for its low regular price of $.99.
