Apple Approves Opera Mini For iPhone

April 13, 2010

Opera has just announced that Apple has finally decided to approve their alternative iPhone browser, Opera mini:

Opera today announced its popular mobile browser, Opera Mini has been approved for iPhone and iPod touch on the App Store. Opera Mini will be available as a free download within 24 hours, depending on market.

This is incredible news! Apple has shown no tolerance for apps that duplicate core functionality so far, and I would have never imagined that they would change their mind about it. I guess I was deeply wrong.

It's confirmed, the app is already available in certain countries (iTunes link).

Alright, I played around with it for a bit now and it's really not that great. Let me remind you too that there is a major security issue with this browser as all your secured communications go through Opera's servers, so be careful.
