FastReview: PapiJump for iPad (Free) - The Game Doodle Jump Ripped Off
PapiJump for iPad (Free) by Sunflat PapiJump was the first game to bring the casual endless style to the iPhone where you tilt your device back and forth to guide a character from platform to platform as it jumps up automatically. PapiJump was, and still is completely free, but that mechanic was copied perfectly by LimaSky with Doodle Jump, and they have made millions off of Sunflat’s creation.
Well PapiJump is now on the iPad in PapiJump for iPad. It’s the same game of trying to make it as high as you can guiding the automatically jumping red ball, Mr. Papi. The iPad version runs at iPad native resolution, and you can play either in portrait or landscape. There are three control methods with the basic tilt, on screen arrows, and sliding.
The game is just simple fun for any spare minutes in your day. It doesn’t have all the pointless themes as its copier, but it still has more fun. It’s so great seeing the little smiling red ball bouncing all around while eating burgers.
The iPad version is tons of fun as you have a bigger perspective even in portrait mode. Now the screen doesn’t need to scroll upwards as often, and there are wider gaps to clear. The landscape mode is a whole new game with the length of all the platforms that start to become sparse rather quickly.
The tilt controls are absolutely amazing, and provide far more precision than the iPhone version. As an example my previous best on the iPhone version is 15,000, and I played the iPhone version once on the iPad, and got 42,000. The iPad version was a whole different challenge, and it really showed how easy the iPhone version is in comparison.
The on screen arrows are pretty bad, but the new slide controls work well especially in landscape mode. Online high scores are included, but they take you out of the app. From the first bounce of Mr. Papi you'll be hooked in the wonderfully simple game.
PapiJump for iPad is one app every iPad owner should download straight away as it’s free, and so much fun. You may find yourself spending more time with it than apps you’ve bought.
