Next Gen iPhone Camera In Production, To Sport 5 MegaPixels

April 29, 2010

It was only yesterday that Apple announced the dates for WWDC and the likely official unveiling of the next generation iPhone but we're beginning to see what will be the first of many rumors as we head into the June event. According to the South Korean newspaper The Chosun, LG Innotek has begun production on the new "sophisticated camera" which will now sport an upgraded 5 megapixel sensor. The report indicates production began earlier this month with mass production ramping up for the second half of the year, a timetable that coincides nicely with Apple's traditional summer launch of the iPhone.

As Gizmodo revealed earlier this month, the prototype iPhone also looks to include an LED flash as well as that often rumored front facing one as well. One thing is for sure: Apple is gearing up for a major overhaul from the 3GS and ensuring we can snap great photos appears to be a certainty.
