The US iPad 3G Ships By May 7th

It's official folks, Apple just updated its online store and now finally displays a shipping date for the iPad 3G in the US. If everything goes well, the 3G iPad should ship by May 7th for you to enjoy by mid-May at the latest.
It's not clear yet whether these dates are only valid for new orders or also for the first pre-orders. In the second case, it means that Apple is also running late in the US, probably because of the massive demand.
As a reminder, you'll be able to purchase directly from the device two plans for $15 and $30, which will provide you with respectively 250mb and unlimited wirelessdata for a month. As to the European models, they are still officially scheduled for the end of May.
