Manage Your iPhone With Folders

April 8, 2010

Cluttered iPhone screens with pages and pages of apps to flick through are about to change. iPhone OS 4.0 will finally be introducing Folders to help manage the appearance and access to your apps.

Introduced as the second in the line of seven new tent pole features of the new updated operating system, Folders solves a problem that every iPhone users has when it comes to owning a huge library of applications. By simply pressing and holding down an app, you can drag  other apps and stack them on top of each other to create a folder of applications.

You can drag as many as you like and once you're done dragging, the folder will automatically appear as a new app icon with smaller icons on it to represent the apps contained inside.  The folder will also name itself automatically based on the categories of the apps or you can provide a custom name for the new icon. You can create as many folders as you like and they can even be placed in the dock for easy access. This elegantly implemented solution now brings your total accessible number of apps from 180 to well over 2000.
