After Modern Family, The iPad Gets Featured On The Colbert Report
As you probably noticed by now, Apple is no stranger to product placements and it's fairly common to see Macs and iPhones make subtle appearances on tv-shows or movies these days.
The iPad promotion campaign on the other hand seems to be going much further than that; turning its TV appearances in nothing less than infomercials. Indeed, after the plot of this Wednesday's Modern Family being pretty much entirely dedicated to Phil getting an iPad, Apple managed to have Colbert (again) start last night's Report from a video playing on their new tablet.
It follows with Stephen demoing the device, using it to cut veggies for his salsa, mentioning it a good dozen times and even making fun of the Kindle. Just in case this wasn't enough, the iPad also made it to Letterman's Late Show last night, but his inability to use it (was that a joke btw?) had much less panache.
This is an amazing strategy. In a short time, Apple has already achieved a phenomenal level of brand awareness for its new device, which will most certainly translate into sales.
