JellyCar 2 on iPad by Disney icon

JellyCar 2 on iPad ($2.99) by Disney is a puzzle game where you drive a squishy car through complex levels to the finish flag dealing with all types of puzzle obstacles on your way. Unlike the traditional car driving game, this one requires patience and skill to figure out the path forward rather than jamming the accelerator forward.

The game itself: Jelly Car 2 on iPad features all of the levels from the iPhone version redesigned to run natively on the iPad. 42 puzzle levels are included through multiple difficulty levels as well as long jump and factory mode. On top of that the level editor has been redesigned with all the room of the iPad, and it's the easiest level editor I've used in any idevice game.

The iPad specific version features two great two player additions to let you and someone else play the Jelly Car fun on the same iPad. First is race mode where the screen is split in half, and you race on the same course to the finish. Also included is tether mode which is co-op where you need to work together as both jelly cars are tethered together.

Jelly Car 2 features all the fun puzzle levels of the iPhone version, but you can see further ahead which is absolutely essential in these levels. The single player is amazing, but if you know anyone be sure to play the two player mode with them on your iPad. The race mode lets you race on any of the single player levels, and it's great as you can bounce against each other along the course to the finish. The co-op mode provides nine unique levels which really require you to work well with your friend as each level can only be achieved by you doing one step while your friend does the other while staying near each other.

The controls are a big question, and there are two options. The default are brand new controls designed for the iPad, but they don't work as good as could. There are small arrows in the bottom right, and a spinner in the bottom left which make it quite tough. Once you turn on classic controls though it's even better than the iPhone as you have the whole right side for forward, and the left side for back. You tilt the device to control the spin of your car which is calibrated well for the bigger device so it doesn't require too much tilting.

Jelly Car 2 on iPad is one of the best games available on the device. The developers could have just gave you the same game with upscaled graphics, but instead truly took advantage of the iPad by bringing two unique and outstanding two player modes. Those modes alone make this game a must buy for $2.99.

If you own the iPhone version: If you own the iPhone version already you can put it on your iPad, and the game looks relatively the same. All of the single player levels are included so if you completed them already there's nothing special with that. The two player mode makes it easily worth the $2.99 price for the iPad specific version.

The two player mode reinvents the game making it a whole new experience as you enjoy it with another. The iPad version looks a little better, and the controls are just as good, so this is one game that is still recommended to buy even if you own the iPhone version.

If you only own an iPad: If you only own an iPad get ready to enjoy one of the best puzzle games available as it's a must buy for $2.99. The single player mode is outstanding, and be sure to grab a friend to share the fun on your iPad. It's great to be able to play with others without requiring them to own an iPad.

If you never bought the iPhone version: If you never bought the iPhone version, hopefully you can find $1 to spare to do so. For that $1 you will get 42 levels of great puzzle fun. Be sure to read our full review of the iPhone version.

iBlast Moki HD by Godzilab iconiBlast Moki HD ($4.99) by Godzilab is one of the best physics based puzzle games on the iPhone where you place bombs, balloons, and gears to propel mokis from point a to point b.

The game itself: The game features seven different worlds with each one having at least ten levels with some having more. Plus there is an online level editor as well as access to user created levels. The extra space of the iPad provides a better look of the entire level at the start of the level.

iBlast Moki HD by Godzilab screenshotThe level editor is also much easier to use with the added space. On the iPhone you have to pinch to zoom in and out to see the level, and then precisely place, but on the iPad you can do those things without any pinching. There are no new levels, and just "HD" versions of all the iBlast Moki iPhone levels.

The game introduces nothing new except the graphics, and costs $4.99 instead of $2.99. Should you buy it? Well it depends on what you have. If you own the iPhone version: If you already own the iPhone version then you should just play that version on the iPad. The graphics difference isn't that big of a difference from iPhone double pixel to iPad native version. It ranges from good to beautiful, so it depends on how beautiful you want your game to be. The same exact levels are included so if you've beat them already there's nothing to do in this $5 version. Granted the level editor is easier to use, but there's nothing iPad specific. The levels seem to just have so much extra background, and that's it. The iPad could have all kinds of new deluxe levels, but that's not the case with iBlast Moki. If you only own an iPad: If you only own an iPad it's a difference of $5 to $3 between the iPad and iPhone version. iBlast Moki is one of the best physics based puzzle games so you'll definitely enjoy it on the iPad no matter which version you play. If you're interested in physics puzzle games then iBlast Moki should be at the top of your list, but it's up to you if it's worth $2 to have it go from looking good to beautiful. If you never bought the iPhone version: If you happened to never have bough the iPhone version of iBlast Moki you may want to consider it now. It's the best physics based puzzle game with over 70 levels with all kinds of obstacles and contraptions to use. Check out our full review of the iPhone version to help you decide.
