Soosiz HD by Touch Foo icon

Soosiz HD ($0.99) by Touch Foo is a 2D platformer where perspective and gravity switch as you jump from land to land. You play as a little circle guy with feet and hair, and you need to to collect a certain number of little guys, and reach the exit to beat a level. In total there are 66 levels across seven worlds with seven huge boss battles.

The game itself: Soosiz HD is the same game as the iPhone version just with iPad optimized graphics and controls. With that said it’s a whole new experience on the iPad with the great looking 2D cartoon world of Soosiz right in your face on such a grand scale. The controls are the same style, but much easier to use as the iPhone version running at 2X requires you to reach across a 3rd of the screen to move right.

The iPad version controls don’t take up nearly as much room, and are super easy to use. Soosiz HD is still the same amazing platformer that is only number two to Rolando 2 on the iPhone, and the best you can get currently on the iPad. To get the best platformer is costs only $1 with the current sale so this is an absolute must if one ever existed.

The game is packed with enjoyment from the first level to the last of the 66 levels. It’s an amazing experience jumping from planet to planet with perspective changing once Soosiz touches down on a new planet. One disappointment is that there isn’t a wider view of the levels with the iPad version like some other games have been able to achieve. This is one of the best idevice games available.

If you own the iPhone version: If you own the iPhone version already you could play it on your iPad. The game visuals don’t look too different like some other games. It’s just a little fuzzy and hazy compared to the crispness of Soosiz HD. The iPhone controls though are a chore when double pixeled as they fill a big part of the screen, and are tough to reach. For only $0.99 it’s still an absolute must to buy the upgrade of Soosiz HD even if you own the iPhone app.

If you only own an iPad: If you only own an iPad hopefully you can find $1 to spare. You can’t spend $1 any better in the App Store whether your a fan of platformers, games in general, or don’t even like games. You will have a great time with Soosiz.

If you never bought the iPhone version: If you never bought the iPhone version hopefully you too have $1 to spare. The iPhone version is also only $1, and at that price for overall value it’s the best platformer in the App Store. Read our full review of the iPhone version.

Let

Let's Golf! HD ($4.99) by Gameloft is a casual golfing sim giving you more of an arcade feel than the traditional experience. Gameloft ported the full iPhone game, but upscaled the 3D graphics for the iPad.

The game itself: Let's Golf HD is a gorgeous game giving you 63 holes across four locations with each one redesigned for the iPad. The holes have more detail, and overall more substance than their iPhone counterparts. Multiplayer allows for pass n play on one iPad or local connectivity over wifi with other iPads as well as iPhones and iPod Touches.

Let

The gameplay is the best you can find for golf games on the idevice. It's tilted towards the arcade side so the action is quicker, there is more fun to be had, and your scores tend to be lower. There are two control options for super casual and fun, or a little tougher. The casual controls work perfectly on the iPad as you just tap to start the meter then two more taps to stop for power and accuracy.

For $4.99 Let's Golf HD is a should buy providing tons of fun, and beautiful graphics. The game offers no innovation, and simply upscaled graphics compared to the iPhone version, but taking the HD version in isolation it's great. Golfing on any device has never been as fun with it so big and beautiful right in your face and at your fingertips.

If you own the iPhone version: If you already own the iPhone version there is no difference with the iPad version so you may just want to play that one on your iPad. Now there is a definite noticeable difference between the two versions as the iPad one is simply beautiful. The iPhone version at 2x is pretty pixelated and blotchy, but especially in comparison to the 3D golf courses designed for the iPad.

It really depends on how beautiful you like your games. The content is the same though.

If you only own an iPad: If you only have an iPad Let's Golf is definitely worth picking up for $5. It's easily the best golf game, and the best sports game on the iPad and that will remain the same even when ea sports iPad games arrive. The golfing experience is quick for golf, and provides a beautiful landscape for the action.

If you never bought the iPhone version: If you never bought the iPhone version, and are even remotely interested in sports on your iPhone/iPod touch you can't go wrong with Let's Golf. It's one of the best iPhone sports games, and it's only $2 giving you 63 holes of action with a simple interface, and tons of fun. Check out our review of the iPhone version to help you decide.
