Real Checkers For iPad Available For Free This Weekend
April 10, 2010
Still looking to fill that iPad up with as many optimized apps as possible? If so, we have another good deal for you today. Real Checkers for iPad by Applandia has been marked down from $.99 to free for the entire weekend.
Real Checkers really holds true to its name. The game mimics real life checkers by not imposing rules or restrictions of any kind, so you will feel as if you are playing on a real life game board. It also lacks an AI, which means you will have to find a friend to play.
Pieces can be moved freely all around the board. When jumping an opponent's piece, it won't automatically be removed from the board; you must do that all on your own. The same do-it-yourself rules apply for kinging a piece as well. When you reach your opponent's king row you will be required to king your own piece by dragging one of your removed pieces on top of it. Pieces can be un-kinged by pulling outward with two fingers.
Real Checkers isn't completely bare bones, however. The game board can be customized with one of three themes, and if you exit out of the app in the middle of the game, you can resume from that same spot the next time you open it.
If you are looking for a checkers game with a controlled environment, Real Checkers definitely isn't it. If you are just looking to play a game of checkers as you would in real life, you will enjoy this one, especially since it's absolutely free and contains zero ads. You really can't go wrong.
