SplashID - Password Manager Gets Optimized For iPad
April 27, 2010
A new iPad-optimized version of SplashData's SplashID has just hit the App Store, giving iPad owners the ability to safely store, organize, and access all kinds of personal information via a snappy new interface.
“For nearly ten years, SplashID has continued to be developed and refined to address the latest technologies and the ever-changing threats to our customers’ sensitive information,” said Morgan Slain, CEO of SplashData. “We are proud to introduce the world’s best-selling and most secure password manager to the breakthrough mobile platform the iPad offers!”SplashID is one of the most feature-rich information managers for your iPad. It allows you to store vast amounts of sensitive information such as account passwords, credit cards, prescriptions, notes, and basically anything else you can imagine safely and securely on your portable device. It's also one of the most secure information managers available. The app sports both AES and Blowfish encryption and a new special pattern-based login (to go along with numeric and alphabetic) that allows you to create a distinct pattern on the screen with your finger, so even if a thief nabs your expensive device, it would take them an eternity to discover your pattern considering there are millions of possibilities. SplashID contains many other handy features as well, including an automatic password generator, anti-phishing URL icons, the ability to create custom icons or purchase new ones in-app, the ability to attach files to records, copy and paste, and the ability to sync and backup your information wirelessly to your Mac or PC with SplashData’s companion software. SplashID, the desktop software, is priced at $19.99, but the company does offer a 30 day trial so you can find out for yourself if it is worth it. SplashID for iPad is now available in the App Store for $9.99, which is the same price as the iPhone version. As you may have already deduced, SplashData decided against making the iPhone version of SplashID universal, which may be a tough pill to swallow for those who already own the iPhone version. If you feel $9.99 is asking too much, you can always go with the dreaded pixel doubling.
