Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 Ollies Into The App Store
April 1, 2010
Tony Hawk himself first outed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for the iPhone and iPod touch via his Twitter feed in early March. We have been sitting and waiting for it to hit the App Store ever since that time, but today looks to be the day to get your hands on the game, and that's no joke.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 was first released in 2000 for Playstation and quickly became a huge hit thanks to the addition of new moves and recognizable skating pros. That same game has made its way over to the iPhone and iPod touch in pretty much its original form.
The game controls via an on-screen d-pad and button, or you can use accelerometer controls, although this isn't exactly the most accurate way to hit the rails. The game features Tony Hawk as a playable character along with 12 other pro skaters. It features a large set of moves and tricks, such as nose/tailslides, nose/bluntslides, lip tricks, nollies, manuals, and much more. As you skate your way to the top, you will earn cash to purchase more moves and alternate boards. The game also features 13 environments to skate.
Early user reviews have indicated that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 will certainly take you down memory lane. It's not trying to reinvent the genre, it's meant to give you a taste of that true classic skating that was so popular nearly 10 years ago.
The biggest downside, besides accelerometer controls, would be the high $9.99 price. If you are willing to fork over a little extra cash for a some skating nostalgia, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 is sure to please.
