EA's Skate It Ollies Into The App Store

May 10, 2010

EA has finally decided to throw its hat into the iPhone skateboarding game ring with the release of Skate It.  It will be competing for your attention with the likes of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Skater Nation, Vans Sk8, Touchgrind, and oh so many more. Skate It for iPhone and iPod touch is actually based off of EA's popular skating series by the same name, which was originally developed for Nintendo DS and Wii.  The game allows you to ollie, kickflip, and grind your way through the fictional city of San Vanelona or a handful of other real-world locations.  The more challenges you complete, the more perks you will earn, which you can use to obtain new locations, boards, outfits, and even the ability to create your own skate park. Tricks are performed by using what EA calls "revolutionary touchscreen flick-it” controls, and tilt controls are employed to guide and balance your skater.  The game also features a camera mode that allows you to replay your best tricks or even crashes if you are into that sort of thing. Skate It is now available for $6.99. If you are looking for a different kind of skating game for your iPhone and iPod touch, this one may just satisfy your cravings.  The only major downside is that there isn't an alternative control method to EA's "revolutionary" flick-it controls, so you will have to get used to them. Check out the Skate It gameplay trailer below.
