QuickAdvice: Jumpa
Jumpa ($0.99) by AppaZoo is a fun new 3d arcade style game for iPhone. Its a game of timing and skill. Jumpa is easy to pick up and play, can be infuriatingly difficult but at the same time outrageously addictive.
The game begins underwater and a giant blowfish starts heading towards you. The aim of the game is to score points by tapping the screen at exactly the right moment and stop the fish from hitting the screen. The secret of this game is all about perfect timing. Tap too soon, or too late and you lose points so you must time your taps to be as accurate as possible. While you're concentrating on the moving fish you must also watch out for bonus items flying by. These bonus items are a great way to earn some extra points. As you progress through the levels you will encounter new creatures and backgrounds but the game does become harder and harder the further you go on.
The simple gameplay is effective and lends itself well to the iPhone platform. The graphics are quite good too and the developers have produced a reasonably good app here. On the downside, however, I personally would prefer a little more variation in the gameplay of an app of this kind. I thought the levels became a touch repetitive after level 6 but this may be due to the fact that I found the music wasn't to my taste.
If you are unsure as to whether you should part with your cash there is a lite version of the game available in the App Store for free. This is a great way to try before you buy. Jumpa is a fun game that is easy to pick up and play. The 3D graphics are visually appealing and the overall gameplay is quite engaging. Jumpa should be a hit with casual gamers.
