Review: Bounce Bullet Pro

May 26, 2010

Overview

Bounce Bullet Pro is a physics based shooting game where you get to be an assassin like one from the movie "Wanted." You fire one bullet, and you try to hit every person on screen at once as they're arranged in various structures. You will need to bounce the bullet around all types of blocks to try to hit every single person in the level. <

Features

There are tons and tons of levels with 124 levels in total, with 12 different scenes. When a bullet flies through a person there is an explosion of blood. You have an optional guiding line as well as three difficulties, and you can make the objects lollipops for a more pg game. In each level you get 15 bullets, and OpenFeint is included for online high scores and achievements.

The Good

The game is simple fun that requires a slower more thought out pace. Instead of blasting as often as you can in a typical shooter game, this is much more a physics puzzle game. You need to line up your shot, and try to see the path the bullet will bounce to hit as many people as possible. < You want to hit each and every person in a level to advance, but for higher scores you want to hit more people with one bullet. Each person hit acts as a multiplier so each person adds one to the multiplier. If you go for hitting as many people as possible on one shot the challenge is definitely there, but when realizing you have 15 bullets you know you'll beat the level. There is tons to do in the game with over 100 levels. Every level provides a different arrangement, and you can always go for achievements based on number of enemies hit. You can also go for an online high score for the entire game. The game is nicely designed though relatively simple. Everything is just stick figures, and the alternating backgrounds are simplistic. The blood squirting animations are nice to see, but it's the same stock animation over and over.

The Bad

The game is relatively simplistic, and despite all the different levels they all meld together. You never really seem challenged as you receive 15 bullets, and you will hit some people without expecting it to happen from your shot. The game is more boring than fun as you progress, and it feels like you're just going through the motions rather than enjoying your time. < There is no variability between all the levels except for the varying backgrounds, since the arrangement of blocks doesn't change that much. It's always firing multiple bullets to tear through all the people on screen. An ironic soundtrack is included with elevator music plus a boing sound effect as the bullet bounces which seems so misplaced, and rather annoying.

The Verdict

Bounce Bullet Pro is a fun little game, though relatively simplistic. There are many different levels, though there isn't variability in the gameplay, and they all start to meld together. The visuals and sounds are simplistic, but the gameplay is fun a few times as you bounce the bullet planning out the path to go for the multiplier. Bounce Bullet Pro is worth considering depending on if you like puzzle games, but want some blood. Try the lite version to help you decide if it's too simplistic for you too.
