Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 Officially Coming To iPhone

May 20, 2010

When Sega initially revealed their upcoming Sonic title, Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, they announced only three of the four platforms it would be available for: Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, and Nintendo WiiWare.  Apparently they wanted to save some PR material for later on in the development cycle in order to keep the hype machine running.  Well, that hype machine has just hit another gear, as Sega has finally revealed the fourth platform Sonic 4 will be made available for, the iPhone.
Those of you with iPhones and iPod Touches, rejoice! Today, we’re also officially revealing that the fourth platform for Sonic 4 is indeed that lovely little device with enough apps to save the world.
But that's not the only news coming out of the house that Sonic built.  The company has also revealed that they want to deliver the best possible Sonic experience yet, and to do so they need more time to fine-tune and balance the levels and add some more polish.  I bet you can guess what that means?  The title will be pushed back from its original summer release date to an even more vague "late 2010." Since we really didn't know for sure that Sonic 4 would be coming to the iPhone, the fact that it is being delayed should have much less of an effect on us than the rest of the gaming world.  I say take your time Sega, make sure this one isn't a stinker like the last few new Sonic titles you put out.  We will be anxiously waiting to see what you come up with.
