Steve Jobs On German iPad Prices: Blame Your Government
May 8, 2010
As you might have noticed, German iPads are a bit pricier than in the rest of the world. It didn't go unnoticed in the old Deutschland as a Fscklog's reader took it up to Steve Jobs himself by email.
And he got an answer apparently:
Blame your government. Germany just added a new copyright levy for computers.
Indeed, Germany started taxing a couple days ago 15.2€ for every sold computer without a disc burner. Of course this isn't much of a revelation and the difference in price is very small; but it does show however how involved is Steve in this whole deal.
I also feel like he sounds a bit upset about it, what do you think?
