Wired iPad App = Huge Success, Sells 24,000 Copies Within 24 Hours

The Wired iPad App, one of the best few e-zines for the iPad, has had a huge turn of events. Executives at Wired and Condé Nast have just announced that they have already sold about 24,000 copies. All this only twenty-four hours after release. With the daring price of $4.99, it is estimated that Wired has made around $80,000 from the application alone.
Although Wired had some troubles earlier with using Flash and had to rewrite the app, this just goes to show that hard work will pay off in the end. Furthermore, this disproves our earlier belief that iPad magazines are a flop. GQ had only sold 365 copies early in May, but the Wired e-zine has shown us that iPad magazines can be a success, and possibly even give the industry a much needed boost as long as they're done correctly.
The only real "problem" with the Wired application is its pricing. Although it may seem as if you get less out of it than buying the actual physical magazine, you are in fact receiving content that you cannot receive in print, such as rich graphics and video content. They are however still experimenting with pricing apparently, so complaining a bit might win us a couple dollars in the long run...
