Turn Your iPhone Into A Wireless Camera For Your iPad - Plus A Chance To Win A Copy

May 12, 2010

For whatever reason, Apple chose not to include a camera in the iPad. Sure, it does seem rather silly that such a powerful and high-tech piece of equipment doesn't have something so basic as a camera, but whatever, we're not here to judge. What we can do is offer a solution provided by developer JP Hribovsek. His new app titled Wireless Camera is able to turn your iPhone into, you guessed it, a wireless Bluetooth camera for your iPad. Even better, we have some promo codes for the app to give away to you fine folks. Wireless Camera turns any Bluetooth-equipped iPhone into a wireless camera for your iPad by pairing the two devices up and pushing a live feed from your iPhone to your iPad. The live feed shows up as a pop-up in the lower left-hand corner of the screen, and you can take a picture of what you are seeing from either the iPhone itself or from the iPad. Once a picture is taken, the iPad will display the image in full screen, and you can choose to save the picture to your camera roll or simply take another one. This is only v1.0 of Wireless Camera, so there are a few UI quirks here and there. For example, if you want to take a picture in landscape mode, you most certainly can, but the iPad's live feed will leave the image in portrait mode, which makes viewing it on the iPad a bit difficult. According to the developer, however, this issue will be remedied in the next update. The developer has also stated that many more features, like the ability to edit and save images from your iPhone's camera roll to your iPad's, will be coming via free updates. But even with this basic set of features, Wireless Camera is a pleasant little app that offers a relatively easy solution for the lack of a camera. Wireless Camera is now available in the App Store for $.99. It is a universal app, which means you only have to pay for it once in order to use it on both of your devices.
