Kindle App Gets A (Modest) Update

June 11, 2010

Amazon has released an update to its popular Kindle app.  The newest version of the book-reading app includes easier and faster navigation between its home screen and archived book section, and larger fonts and more font sizes.

And finally, the app allows for page search.  However, iPad owners will not have this availability until the next app release.  Amazon has been criticized for not including this in its Kindle app and its inclusion (at least on the iPhone) will make many happy. According to Amazon, its next update will include word lookup and the ability to search for word meanings in both Google and on Wikipedia. The Kindle app uses Amazon’s Whispersync technology which automatically synchronizes a user’s bookmarks and location among devices registered to the same Amazon.com account. The Kindle app for iPad was one of the first book-reading apps available on the device on its release date and is offered for free from the Apps Store.
