Cash: Just How Much Money Has Apple Made Hosting Apps?

As you probably heard yesterday during the keynote, Steve Jobs announced that Apple will pay App Store developers their billionth dollar this month. While it does sound like a lot of money, it gives us additional valuable information. Just how much has Apple made on the App Store so far?
Since we know Apple keeps 30% of all App Store sales, even a sixth grader can now extrapolate how much money Apple has made hosting apps over the last two years; a bit over 420 million dollars.
That's probably not a lot of money for Apple but making money was not their primary goal, as the real value of the App Store is in its capacity to help Apple sell more iDevices. Nevertheless, now we know.
