Cooks Have Something to Smile About
June 11, 2010
While there are an increasing number of food-specific apps available for the iPad, perhaps it is the new $3.99 Photo Cookbook that stands out the best simply for its "wow" factor.
Created as a companion for Quick and Easy (Frame By Frame Cookery)"I had the idea to license contents of books from Parragon to create apps from them. So we analyzed some book titles of Parragon in spring 2010, at the same time when Steve Jobs announced the iPad."At that point, Ditter's programmer, Alexander Blach, went to work to convert "Frame by Frame" into the company's first iPad app. In its first version released just last week, the Photo Cookbook primarily relies on recipes already-published in the paper version of the book. As noted by Ditter, future updates will likely rely on the support and comments from Photo Cookbook buyers.
"We would like to wait some time for reviews, comments or needs of our customers. They will, if possible, be considered for the next release."Future iPad apps may also be coming from the company. Electronic versions of the company's Asian and Baking titles may be created as separate apps or as in-app purchases within the Photo Cookbook. iPhone food apps had already been created by ditter.projektagentur GmbH including Food Guide, Cheeses and Fruit & Nuts.
