DC Comics Arrives on iPad
June 23, 2010
After some delay, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and other DC Comics heroes have arrived on the iPad. The DC Comics app arrived in the Apple App store today and is available for download.
Powered by ComiXology technology, the app takes advantage of the unique "Guided View" reading experience. Readers can also enjoy the pristine, classic, full page view. While Marvel Comics released its own app for iPad in April, this is the first time DC Comics has released its own independent app for Apple's tablet device. While the actual app is free (and will include free content), most of the in-app comic books will be available for between $0.99 and $2.99 per issue. Users that download comics for the iPad will be able to read them on other ComiXology-supported platforms as well. Among the free offerings now is a 10-page preview of the 700th issue of Superman, plus the first installment of the ZUDA series "Bayou". Comic book lovers, what do you think of the new DC Comics app?
