Gourmet Magazine Getting New Life On iPad

June 25, 2010

Although the long-published food and wine magazine Gourmet ceased production in early 2009, it is now about to get new life on the iPad. Conde Nast, the publisher of Gourmet is expected to re-release it under the name "Gourmet Live" sometime before the end of the year.  The free app will include many of the recipes that made the magazine popular from 1941 until it folded.

The following video has been created to get us foodies excited about the magazine's virtual rebirth:

According to the video, the app will be made in HTML5 and include new and old content.   In addition, users will be able to comment about recipes amongst friends through Facebook and Twitter. Despite its publication's demise, Conde Nast has continued to use the Gourmet name in a website of the same name, and features from this website are expected to integrate nicely into the new Gourmet Live app. While there might be a subscription piece included in this app, it will be available for free this fall.
