Who Said iMovie Can't Run On The 3GS?
Apple's decision to restrict running iMovie to the iPhone 4 sounded legitimate to a certain extent, but didn't make it any less disappointing. After all, the 3GS can shoot video and most of us would rather have it slow then not have it at all.
Fortunately, Apple didn't put much effort into enforcing this limitation, and as RedmondPie found out last night, iMovie can easily be brought to the iPhone 3GS. All it takes is unzipping the ipa, changing two settings in the info.plist (minimum OS version and front-facing camera requirement) and pushing the app to your iPhone over sftp (jailbreak required).
Despite Apple's claims, iMovie runs fairly well on the 3GS. Don't try to put it on a 3G however as it will crash immediately. No luck on the iPad so far, as iMovie requires iOS4. Here's how it looks on video:
This looks mighty fine to me Apple, what gives?
