iPhone And iPad Apps Gone Free: RedLaser, Dawn Of The Dead, AirType, And More
June 24, 2010
Today's free app list is highlighted by RedLaser, the super popular barcode scanning app. We also have quite a few quality games on the list for you to enjoy with your new iPhone 4.
RedLaser ($.99 -> Free): The app that set the standard for barcode scanning. It allows you to scan any UPC, EAN, UPC-E, and EAN-8 barcode using only your iPhone's camera, and finds the lowest online and local prices for that item from hundreds of thousands of retailers. You can also share your list of products via email.
RedLaser is free thanks to its acquisition by eBay. It has a four-star rating.
Dawn of the Dead ($2.99 -> Free): A dual-stick shooter that features a story based on the hit film by the same name. You can play as one of three characters, each with different attributes, as you try to survive the zombie infection that has plagued the Crossroads Mall. The game also features multiple modes of play, unlockable weapons, and OpenFeint integration.
Dawn of the Dead is available for free today only (6/24). It has a three-star rating.
AirType ($.99 -> Free): A gimmicky app that allows you to write in the sky, or more like in the darkness. Simply type a message on your iPhone, dim the lights, and start waving your iPhone back and forth and your message will appear as a streak of light. This YouTube video does the app some justice.
AirType is available for free as long as Denmark remains in the World Cup. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating.
Jump Above ($.99 -> Free): A jumping game that requires you to tap and tilt your way to the top. The map is littered with power-ups that will help you climb higher and higher, but you must avoid the bombs, because if you hit five, the game is over. It also features OpenFeint integration.
Jump Above is available for free today only (6/24). It has a three-and-a-half-star rating.
Grenade Box ($.99 -> Free): In the game you control a soldier inside of a box who must destroy turrets in order to survive. Your character's side-to-side movement is controlled via tilt, and you can run onto any side of the screen. Jumping is done via tap. The game features 24 levels, and online leaderboards.

BrainBox ($.99 -> Free): An app that features six different puzzle games intended to test your mental skills. Games include fastmath, fifteen, sudoku, sequence, wordsort, and wordbuilder. Local scores and stats can be saved in order to compare with friends and family, and you can share your scores via Facebook.
