Modder Makes His Dream Come True: Builds A Verizon iPad

June 15, 2010

There are many different ways to cope with the frustration caused by AT&T and its spotty network (or its new capped data plans). Usually, it involves ranting in our comment section or writing to AT&T's CEO (not recommended). One user took his frustration to a whole new level and built, what so many are dreaming of, a Verizon iPad.

To create it, he replaced his iPad's 3G GSM modem with a Verizon MiFi hotspot. It's completely integrated, as the MiFi is now powered by the iPad's battery and even takes advantage of the built-in antenna. Creating it wasn't easy but the mod is indeed an impressive one. Especially if you consider that his iPad now also doubles as a Wi-Fi Hotspot.

The procedure is risky, complicated and not for the faint of heart. Yet, if you can't stand AT&T anymore and having two separate devices (iPad and MiFi) is not an option, it may be the way to go.
