ReelDirector Update Adds iPad Support

June 1, 2010

It's always a pleasant surprise when a developer chooses to make a once iPhone-specific app universally compatible with the iPad, and today's pleasant surprise is brought to you by  the developers of ReelDirector, Nexvio, who have added iPad support to their popular video editing app in v3.0. ReelDirector makes it easy for anyone to create a movie on an iPhone, iPod touch, and now iPad.  Its main set of features include a drag-and-drop timeline, the ability to add text, stitch together clips, add one of 28 different transitions, import music files, and share movies via email or save them to your camera roll to do as you please. Besides adding iPad support, the app also now features a tutorial/demo project to help you get started, the ability to import videos (iPhone 3G and iPod touch only) with copy and paste, pan, zoom, and rotate videos, mix videos of different resolutions and orientations, and now text overlay for each clip and fonts can be changed for titles and subtitles. The ReelDirector v3.0 update featuring a shiny new iPad-optimized interface is available for free for all current users.  The downside for those of you who haven't purchased the app yet but want to now that it is iPad compatible is that the app has returned to its normal price of $7.99.  It had only been $3.99 since early April, but since the update added so many features the developers must have felt their original asking price was acceptable, and we would have to agree. ReelDirector a solid app for anyone looking to stitch together a movie while on the go, especially now that you can do so on the iPad's large screen.
