Sneak Peek: Dark Nebula Episode 2 - Upcoming Sequel To The Great Tilting Platformer

June 10, 2010

Dark Nebula is one of the most innovative games in the App Store by combining a platformer with the unique tilt controls of the iPhone. The game is an enjoyable experience from start to finish, but that finish sadly comes so soon. One thing to notice was that was just episode one, and now episode 2 is on the horizon, and we have a preview build of it. Episode 2 continues right where the first left off, and simply gives you more of the greatness of the original. As the old saying goes, "don't mess with success." Maybe the best new feature is that there are 19 levels as compared to only 10 in the original. Most other aspects are the same as you maneuver through complex levels of jumps, enemy fire, and tight rope rolls. There are new features as well though with the biggest being a new battle mechanic. There was no way to attack in the original making it just an avoidance game. Now you will face enemies with spinning saws, and you will need to destroy power stations to open new gates. You roll over colored tiles, and then you have a colored orb that rotates around your ball. You roll until that orb swings into an enemy which then damages it, and only the right color will damage the colored enemy. This mechanic also allows for boss battles with mega enemies, and all new types of challenges. The new episode also features new speed bonus levels as well as moving platforms. Dark Nebula Episode 2 looks to build on everything of the original, and so far it has succeeded. The game has the same amazing design quality, and even more fun packed into each level as you tilt to safety. The game is still a ways out with this build only featuring seven completed levels, but we will keep you updated on a release date and pricing info. Enjoy the screenshots and trailer below.
