Central Park Restaurant Mixed iPad With Wine Selection

July 27, 2010

New York City visitors having a hard time picking out a wine for dinner - and who don't want to talk to the sommelier - are now in luck. South Gate, located at 154 Central Park South between 6th and 7th Avenues has added an iPad sommelier to its menu!

Visitors to the restaurant can choose from 650 choice vintages. The descriptions include detailed information on all the wines and regions. Each table receives its own custom wireless iPad wine list, which uses software created by Incentient. The company uses its unique SmartCellar program which is now available nationwide.

I wouldn't be surprised if iPad menus (and wine lists, of course) pop up all over the world as the price of the device goes down. Not only would its availability add to an establishments "cool" factor, but menus could be changed automatically using software. This would eliminate costly menu reprints.
