FaceTime For iPod touch & iPad To Work With Your Email Address

July 15, 2010

There is a lot of chatter about Apple bringing FaceTime to the rest of its devices. We've also seen a couple leaks and rumors about it. Yet, it will take some slight changes to work.

Indeed, FaceTime relies on phone numbers to establish the connection and while the iPod touch can store phone numbers, it doesn't have one. Well, according to BGR and "one of their reliable Apple connections", Apple's solution for that will be to use your email address. More precisely; your Apple ID. It's really natural and quite obvious when you think about it. We'll still have to wait for front-facing cameras on our iPads before these can play as well. I'll also be patiently waiting for some of the first FaceTime spam.

Lastly, they attached two screenshots to the report (above and below), which don't prove anything, but do make it look legit. Feel free to tell us how much you can't wait for this in the comments box below.
